A person was killed in a crash on Route 981 in South Huntingdon Township.

Westmoreland County 911 said the crash involved a tractor trailer and a car on Route 981 between Mendon Road and Peterson Road at around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Pennsylvania State Police said the tractor trailer left its lane and hit the car head on, causing the car’s roof to shear off. The car then hit a guide rail. The truck crashed into a ditch.

The driver of the car died in the crash. The truck driver was not injured.

    The investigation is ongoing.
