COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The John B. Amos Cancer Center completed an $11 million project focusing on replacing its equipment. This project began in late 2021.

Five pieces of equipment were funded by the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation, aiming to provide cancer patients higher-quality and safer care.

New equipment includes three linear accelerators, a CT scanner assisted by AI, and a six-degree robotic system, according to the company.

The organization also mentions the real-time imaging tools will let clinicians “see” the tumor they will treat, while also giving them confidence to target tumors with sub-millimeter accuracy.

Aline Lasseter, the executive director of Piedmont Columbus Regional, says the project would not have been made possible without philanthropy and that everyone at the foundation are grateful for the community’s support.

Lasseter adds, “We are so grateful for the outpouring of generous community support of cancer care over the years.”
