    UPDATE: Murder suspect arrested following stabbing on South Lumpkin Road

    UPDATE 9:13 a.m.: A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly stabbing on South Lumpkin Road, according to the Columbus Police Department.

    Jerry Jermaine Miller, 39, was taken into custody on Wednesday. Miller is being charged with murder and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.

    Columbus police say officers received a call to South Lumpkin Road and Knox Street on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 11:46 p.m.

    Police found an SUV stopped in the roadway. Shanklin-Lipscomb was in that SUV with a stab wound, according to CPD.

    COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — A man has died after being stabbed in the chest on South Lumpkin Road, according to the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office.

    Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan confirmed to WRBL Cartez Armond Shanklin-Lipscomb, 33, was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Regional at 12:20 a.m.

    Bryan says Shanklin-Lipscomb was picked up at the corner of South Lumpkin Road and Knox Street before being taken to Piedmont.

    The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading this investigation.
