EAST ALABAMA ( WRBL ) — Goodwill of the Southern Rivers has partnered with Legal Services of Alabama to hold two expungement clinics in east Alabama.

These clinics aim to remove certain crimes from an individual’s record in order to improve their likelihood in finding employment and housing. The news release notes that certain criminal offenses, like violent crimes, are unlikely to qualify.

The first clinic is being held on Friday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Opelika Career Center.

The next week on Friday, Aug. 30, a second clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Phenix City Career Center.

Organizers say at the clinics, free onsite legal aid will be available to help with the expungement process, including legibility requirements. If those requirements are met, Legal Services of Alabama will be available to help applicants navigate the process.
