LaGRANGE, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The LaGrange Fire Department has announced the location where firefighters honor those who died during the attack on the World Trade Center.

The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Sept. 11 at Callaway stadium. Participants will climb or walk 2,200 steps which symbolize the height of the World Trade Center.

The event first began in 2018, when firefighters climbed the steps as a way to honor the 343 New York City Fire Department members who died on Sept. 11, 2001.

The LaGrange Fire Department is asking anyone who was affected by the events of Sept. 11 to join them in honoring those who died.

The Fire Department says registration is $25 and all the proceeds will go to the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund. Registration begins at 8 a.m. the morning of the event. T-shirts are available but the Fire Department says they will be limited.
