Auburn, AL. – In this fourth episode of “Perfection on the Plains”, the Auburn Tigers discuss their final two tests to complete the perfect season. First was a rematch against the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Earlier in the season the Tigers made a nation-wide statement with an emphatic 34-10 win in the regular season. In the SEC Title game, the Tigers once again held off the Vols with a 38-28 victory. It was the first time in school history that Auburn had a 12-0 overall record.

However, that record wasn’t good enough to get the Tigers into the BCS National Championship game. #1 USC and #2 Oklahoma would eventually battle it out for college football’s top prize. The Tigers would square off against Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Auburn would improve it’s already historic record of 12-0, to 13-0 when the Tigers held of the Hokies 16-13.

The undefeated Auburn Tigers would not be crowned as National Champions, but their influence on college football can not be denied. Many believe this Auburn Football team was the reason the College Football Playoff was implemented.
