    UPDATE: Columbus High School police presence caused by ‘concerning social media communication’

    UPDATE 11:43 a.m. — Muscogee County School District has confirmed the cause of the police presence at Columbus High School.

    Director of Communications Kimberly Wright told WRBL, “A third party reported potentially concerning social media communication. Out of an abundance of caution, protocols involving law enforcement response were initiated.”

    Wright says police are investigating the incident. All students and staff are safe.

    COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — WRBL has confirmed there is a police presence at Columbus High School with the Columbus Police Department.

    There are no details at this time as to why the police are at the school.

    WRBL has reached out to the Muscogee County School District for more information.
