COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — One year after a 16-year-old was found dead in a car on Doubles Churches Road, Columbus Police are still searching for his murderer.

20-year-old Andrew Crowell is wanted for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Crowell is wanted in connection with the Aug. 31, 2023 murder of 16-year-old Dayton Willis, who was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a car at the intersection of Double Churches Road and Rock Springs Drive. EMS arrived on the scene but were unable to resuscitate Willis. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muscogee County Coroner.

The Violent Crimes Unit took over the case and through its investigation, established probable cause and issued warrants for Crowell’s arrest.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Sgt. D. Battle at 706-225-4340 or dbattle@columbusga.org. Information can also be submitted anonymously via City Protect. A reward is available for information leading to Crowell’s location and arrest.

Police say the reward can be received even if information is submitted anonymously.
