Homicide investigation underway on Holly Avenue in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The Columbus Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday evening.

Police responded to the 4600 block of Holly Avenue. According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, a male was found dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at 8:15 p.m.

Bryan says the victim’s body will go up for an autopsy. At this time, there is no word on the victim’s identity.

Authorities tell WRBL one person has been detained in connection to this incident. CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating. Stay with WRBL on-air and online as we work to learn more information.
