    WEATHER AWARE: Strong winds and flooding possible

    COLUMBUS, Ga (WRBL)- Hurricane Francine has officially made landfall in the Louisiana Terrebonne Parish as a category 2 hurricane this evening. Maximum sustained winds are estimated to be near 100 mph with gusts up to 120 mph. As Francine begins to move inland, it is expected to quickly weaken and continue northward.

    WEATHER AWARE: We will be weather aware Today-Friday afternoon due to to strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Wind Advisories are already in place for Macon and Bullock counties .

    Winds will continue to pick up over the next few hours, gusting up to 50mph at times tomorrow. We will also be watching for brief spin up tornadoes along Francine’s rainbands both Thursday and again Friday.

    Conditions will begin to calm by the weekend, however we will still have a few isolated showers through the weekend. Temperatures will begin to rise back into the mid 80s by next week.
