Road atop West Point Dam to be closed on Sept. 16 for maintenance

MOBILE, Ala. ( WRBL ) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Mobile District will supervise a maintenance project of spillway gates 5 and 6 at West Point Dam.

The road atop the dam will be closed beginning Sept. 16 to ensure safety among the public and the contractors working on those gates.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the level of West Point Lake will slowly lower to 625 feet by Oct. 1.

The work is set to take place from Oct. 1 to Jan. 15, 2025. The road will stay closed until maintenance on the dam is completed.
