CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Cullman County Schools announced that two students were arrested Wednesday.

One of the students was arrested for making threatening statements in class, and the other was arrested for possessing a vape product containing illegal drugs.

“Both of these arrests are the result of thorough investigations and we are holding students accountable for their actions, like I said we would do and we will continue to do,” said Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette in a statement.

The school system also acknowledged a rumored target list that certain schools are allegedly on. The school system stated that this alleged target list is actually a government document listing schools that are “Target Assistance” schools for Federal Title I funding, and it has nothing to do with any threats towards the listed schools.

The school system said that it does not currently know of any threats towards their schools, but it will be in a state if heightened awareness due to the events of the past few days.

“I want to challenge you that if you don’t know about something firsthand, and you hear of something, talk to an administrator so we can investigate it,” said Barnette.
