LEE COUNTY, Ala.  ( WRBL ) — The Lee County Emergency Management Agency says to stay aware during severe weather.

Michael Holden, the emergency management specialist recommends Lee County residents to have multiple ways to receive alerts by phone.

Holden warns residents to be prepared if power lines go out and communication is cut. He says having a NOAA radio will allow for them to stay aware of the weather.

Holden says being prepared for severe weather includes not only by having communication, but having a plan.

“It should look like, what are you going to do? So where am I going to go? What am I going to take? Who am I going to take with me?” Holden said. “And then after that , you know if you are impacted, where you’re going to go after that, who are you going to contact to let people know that you’re okay after the event?”

Lee County EMA says if a tornado watch is issued, storm shelters will be open. Holden suggests bringing routine medications, water and snacks.

He also recommends having fresh batteries for flashlights and fully charged devices.

Below is past coverage from WRBL’s weather team for staying safe during severe weather.
