Lanett police increasing presence at local schools as investigation continues, so far ‘no credible threat’

LANETT, Ala. ( WRBL ) — The Lanett Police Department is increasing its presence at local schools as the investigation into an alleged shooting threat continues on. According to the department, no credible threat to a specific campus has been received as of Friday morning.

The investigation stems back to an alleged social media post that references shooting up Lanett City Schools.

Although police have not received a credible threat, they say the matter is still being taken very seriously with detectives working to find the source of the social media post. Police went on to say the person would be arrested and charged to the full extent of the law if they are located.
