A calmer and drier forecast for this week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Monday morning! After a dreary and wet weekend we finally start to dry out for the week ahead. Starting off mostly cloudy with a few lingering showers across east Alabama, but expect most of the clouds to break by late morning and into the early afternoon.

Highs this afternoon climb into the mid to low 80s under partly sunny skies. Winds become lighter across the region as the remnants of Francine are no more. Tonight mostly clear with temperatures dropping into the mid to low 60s. Tuesday we will see a tad more sunshine as we continue to watch an area of low pressure off the Carolina coast.

That area of low pressure off the Carolina coast has been designated as Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight for now. It could become a tropical storm by today and it would become Helene. For us it will help keep us sunnier and drier as it pulls in air from the northwest. So don’t expect much from this one.

It will help increase cloud cover by Wednesday as it comes inland, but rain chances are not looking to move in. However, the rest of the week looks to be dry and mostly sunny with temperatures teetering back towards 90 degrees for some afternoons.
