PHENIX CITY, Ala. ( WRBL ) — A housefire at Meadowood Drive in Phenix City left a mother and son dead on Sunday, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr.

Sumbry confirmed to WRBL 28-year-old Tysha Musick and her 15-month-old son, Scott Musick, were pronounced dead at 1:52 p.m. Sumbry says smoke inhalation could be the cause of death.

Both bodies are being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences where they will undergo an autopsy.

    A death investigation is underway.
