Local Red Lobster manager on exit from bankruptcy announcement

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — A local Red Lobster manager is celebrating the good news. Sept. 19, Red Lobster announced it was officially out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy .

The seafood restaurant giant, which has two Columbus locations, originally filed for bankruptcy in May. More than 100 locations closed across the country as a result.

Columbus’ locations remained open throughout that period, but 13th Street Red Lobster General Manager Tywana Williams said things were difficult. She is hoping the news of the exit will bring more customers back to Columbus’s Red Lobster.

Upon announcing its exit from bankruptcy, Red Lobster said it is “stronger, more resilient and ready for a bright new chapter.”

Williams shares that sentiment.

She said, “It’s everything. It’s like a personal win. It’s a triumph. Thing have been rocky for the past couple of months, you know, it’s been hard.”

Williams said her location will be hiring additional staff to help serve the influx of customers Red Lobster is expecting.

Red Lobster has been operating in Columbus for more than 40 years. A second location was opened in 2005.
