Auburn, Al (WRBL) – Since the beginning of the 2024 season, the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors have fought for respect. Last Friday, the Warriors made a big statement by handing the Beulah Bobcats their first loss of the season.

“It feels great. This win on Friday was huge for us. It was huge for Lee-Scott. It was huge to show that we belong in this league. We beat a good football team on Friday night. They’re well coached. They do things the right way, and we came out on top. It says a lot about Lee-Scott,” said head football coach Buster Daniel.

The Lee-Scott faithful have always believed in their team, but the Warriors know there’s still plenty of doubters in the state. The most important thing is the players have always believed in each other.

“I’m glad that we had people believing in us, but honestly it’s just we knew what we were capable of. We knew what we could come in and do,” said senior inside linebacker Christian Horak.

The Warriors may look like an overnight success in the AHSAA. There are18 seniors on this current roster, and they’ve won multiple championships in their previous league the AISA. The Warriors team believe their chemistry and experience carries them to their success.

“We’ve been working hard all summer. the bond that we’ve built over the years, it’s even greater right now. so it’s our bond, and we’re hard working it’s just the mentality that we have,” said senior defensive end and right guard Walker Lane.

“We started like really young since like 9th grade just working all together and trying to build our big bond. we’ve realized what we’ve needed to do and just keep the hardwork up,” said Horak.

That hard work has led to a 4-0 record in their first season in the AHSAA, and a target on their back. The Warriors are used to that kind of pressure

“We had a target on our back all last year, and the year before. We definitely got it this year, you know being a private school and coming into the league. We’re playing bigger league and playing bigger schools. everyone looks at it that ‘Yea they’re state champions, but its another league.’ We’ve got a target and we’ve got a lot to prove. We’re trying to work on it each and every day,” said Coach Daniel.

The future is bright for the Warriors, but for now we’ll say congratulations to our newest Kia AutoSport Athletes of the week the Lee-Scott Academy Football team.
