UPDATE: Roadway cleared

UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: The roadway has been cleared by city officials.

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — A powerline is down on Cherokee Avenue near Slade Drive and Shannon Drive.

Residents who live in the area say the power line is down and people are warning drivers coming from the direction of Lake Bottom Park in Columbus.

At this time no repair workers have been reported at the scene.

Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes to get to their destinations.
