COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Mayor Skip Henderson has called called for a news conference to be held tomorrow at afternoon regarding to investigation into Columbus Animal Care and Control.

Henderson declined to comment, saying he would talk about it at the 3:30 p.m. conference.

Columbus Police have been investigating allegations of wrongdoing inside the city-run shelter since July.

In August, investigators executed search warrants at the CACC facility.

District Four City Councilor Toiya Tucker posted on social media this afternoon saying there have been at least two arrets in conjunction with the investigation.

“It is unfortunate. Nobody wants to see anyone get arrested or go to jail or lose their job for not doing things correctly,” Tucker told WRBL. “But when you are completely warned continuously and you do not heed the warning, this is what happens.”

The entire phone call with Tucker can be heard below.

In addition to Henderson, Columbus Police Chief Stony Mathis and Deputy Chief Lance Deaton will appear at the conference.
