    River to River Relief: Resource drive in Columbus, Georgia for Asheville, North Carolina

    COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Asheville, North Carolina is one of the cities that were heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene. Donation Drives are being held across the Chattahoochee Valley to bring resources to the people of Asheville.

    Hayden Plemmons, the Executive Director of Asheville Downtown Association has partnered with The Branch Church in Cataula, Phyxx Salon off of Veterans Parkway and the Columbus Convention and Trade Center.

    At these locations’ donations of water, propane, batteries, body wipes, pet food, and tarps are being accepted. Plemmons says everything helps.

    “I decided that I was not going to go back empty handed.”

    Plemmons says Asheville is a place where independent and locally owned businesses are. She says these businesses have been impacted.

    “It’s complete devastation.”

    Plemmons says many people in Asheville are still missing.  “The aftermath is so widespread that really united efforts are taking all of our county and our cities work,” says Plemmons

    “They’re really working to regroup, follow, find, all their team members and family members,” she says.

    The first round of donations was taken Wednesday, Oct. 2. The next round is planned to be taken Friday, Oct. 4.
