AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) — The Auburn Tigers know their next opponent well, though that doesn’t make the challenge any easier.

The Tigers will travel to Phenix City Friday night to take on the defending 7A State Champions, the Central Red Devils. This is a matchup that we would expect to see in the playoffs, and it still could very well happen. However, any time these two teams meet it is a classic.

Central won both of the games played between these two last season, in the regular-season as well as the playoffs. Both games ended with similar scores. Central won 41-20 in their first matchup, followed by another Red Devil victory 49-21 in the playoffs.

    But, that was last year.

Auburn has the ability to win this game, outscoring their opponents by 200 so far this season. The Tigers have the firepower, but they haven’t faced a test like Central.

As Auburn Head Coach Keith Etheridge put it, “To be the man, you have to beat the man.” Fans of both teams will gear up to see if the Tigers will be able to “beat the man.”
