Beauregard, Ala. (WRBL) — A shooting at a gathering on Lee Road 11 in the Beauregard community Saturday night left one man dead and another critically injured.

Darrian Finley, 34, of Opelika, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:55 p.m. CT on October 5, 2024, according to the Lee County Coroner’s Office. Finley’s body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.

The second victim, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones tells WRBL the shooting happened after an argument broke out at the party. A gun was recovered at the scene. Sheriff Jones says investigators believe this was an isolated incident and the community at large is not in danger.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with authorities actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials have not yet confirmed if they have any suspects or made arrests in connection with the shooting.

This story is developing, and WRBL will provide updates as more information becomes available.
