COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — There are only 27 days left until election day. In Muscogee County, poll workers have begun training as the Elections and Registration office is preparing for early voting.

Beginning Oct. 15, three locations will be open for early voting. These locations are the city services center, Shirley Winston Recreation Center, and Columbus Technical College.

Each site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the duration of the advanced voting period.

Nancy Boren, The Director of Elections and Registration for Muscogee County explains the strategy they’re implementing for absentee ballots.

“We have coordinated with our local postmaster for delivery of absentee ballots,” Boren says.

“We did that after the May Primary – so for the June runoff, we did a local delivery of all our absentee ballots and a return. We’re going to do that again for November.”

“If you know what you want to vote for, go ahead and vote that ballot,” Boren says.

The Elections and Registration Office in Muscogee County will not be mailing out ballots until the week of Oct. 11.

Absentee Ballots can be brought to the elections office, the ballot collection box, or mail it in.

Boren says if you choose to mail your ballot, give it plenty of time to reach the office.
