COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The Chattahoochee Valley Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2025 class. This will mark its 29th class since it began in 1996.

These inductees will be honored at Columbus Convention and Trade Center at 10 a.m. on Feb. 15, 2025:

    James “Jim” Creek

“Jim Creek coached at Jordan Vocational High School for 22 years. But longevity doesn’t begin to tell his story. Creek coached boys’ and girls’ soccer, golf, track and boys’ basketball. But his passion was for the Lady Red Jackets. Not only did Creek win 377 games over 19 years and take teams to the state finals eight times, he was instrumental in elevating the status of girls’ basketball in the Chattahoochee Valley. After leaving Jordan, Creek coached at Blackmon Road and Marshall Middle Schools as well as Central and Smiths Station.”

    Timothy Scott Fanning

“Tim Fanning is a warrior both on and off the baseball diamond. Fanning has amassed a 649-174 record over a 19-year career at Glenwood High School, winning eight state championships in eight different sports, fielding two state runners-up and earning 14 region crowns. A stunning 90 of his players have gone on to play college or professional baseball. But Fanning’s biggest battle has been against Stage 4 colon cancer. Fanning has continued this fight with dignity against formidable odds.”

    Garey Ingram

“Garey Ingram played high school baseball for Columbus High School and was a member of coach Bobby Howard’s first state championship team. Ingram was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 44th round of the 1989 draft and began his professional career. In May of 1994, he first stepped on a major league field. He’s one of an elite group of players who homered in his first big-league at bat. Ingram joined the Dodgers coaching staff in 2003. He moved to the Braves staff at the end of the 2009 season and remains there at the AA level.”

Tipton “Tippo” Wiley Peddy (Pre-Modern Era)

“Sports in Columbus, Georgia looked very different in the early 1900s. Tippo Peddy was there from the very beginning. The very first football game, played in 1908, featured Columbus High student Peddy. In the first game of the historic Columbus-Jordan rivalry, Peddy scored the only touchdown of the game. Upon graduation, Peddy joined the YMCA basketball team, which enjoyed great success touring the southeast. He became director of the YMCA and was its oldest member until his death in 1957.”

    Adam Thomas

“Adam Thomas was born in Columbus and raised in Phenix City and Smiths Station. He never moved far from his roots. Whether it was playing for Smiths Station High and Chattahoochee Valley Community College or coaching, Thomas stayed close to home. He spent 19 years at the helm of the Pirates baseball team, followed by two seasons at Pacelli. Thomas amassed 581 career wins and an impressive .643 winning percentage. He took CVCC to two consecutive Junior College World series, finishing sixth and third in 2014 and 2015, respectively.”

    Tiwauna Williams

“Tiwauna Williams was a superstar in the emerging Jordan Lady Red Jackets powerhouse basketball program in the early 1980s. Williams was a fixture under the goal as one of coach Jim Creek’s twin towers. Williams helped put girls’ basketball on the map, while maintaining her humble, unassuming personality. She went on to star at Albany State where she was part of four SAIC championship teams. She went on to coach for two years at Albany State and four at Jordan and was inducted into both institutions’ halls of fame.”
