Auburn, Al (WRBL) – During a long high school football season there are just some games that stand out. Whenever Central High School and Auburn High School match up, fans from all around Alabama pay attention. When the dust settled last Friday night at Garrett-Harrison Stadium the Auburn Tigers won 38-33.

“It’s just a great feeling honestly. It was a team win. It took a lot to get there, a lot of getting yelled at practice. But it was worth it for the win. It was such a good feelings,” said senior middle linebacker Jackson Lovvorn.

There’s a saying in sports that big time players step up in big time games. One of the brightest stars for the Tigers in Phenix City was senior wide receiver Peyton Plott.

“Peyton individually had a huge game for us. I think 6 or 7 catches with over 140 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He also had over 100 yards in kick returns. You’re looking at over 250 yards for us the other night,” said Auburn High head coach Keith Etheredge.

It was a great accomplishment, but the Tigers have already turned the page to prepare for their next challenge.

“You have to enjoy these wins but at the same time you have to let it go. You have to get better each week, and get ready for the next team,” said Plott.

“We got back to it Sunday. We’re full steam on Smiths Station. We’re not thinking about Carver the week after it’s all Smiths Station right now,” said Lovvorn.

That focus is fueled by Auburn’s desire to reach their ultimate goal.

“I don’t care if we’re number 1 anytime in year except for the last game. You know I want to be number one when all the smoke and you know at the end of the year,” said Etheredge.

Congratulations to our newest Kia AutoSport Athletes of the Week the Auburn High School football team.
