‘You do not have to suffer in silence’: All About Fitness offers hurricane aid

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — All About Fitness Family (AAF) is offering support to all directly or indirectly impacted by hurricanes this season.

Founder Dewayne Webb said his organization is willing to help connected anyone in need with local resources or even provide those resources themselves.

“You do not have to suffer in silence. You do not have to wonder where the next meal, where the next place for you to lay down is going to be,” Webb said.

Nearly two weeks ago, AAF member and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Acacia Morgan’s on-post home at Fort Eisenhower – near Augusta, Georgia – was left damaged and without power or water in the hours after Helene.

After struggling for eight hours to get groceries from the only open store, Morgan found a box of MREs on her doorstep from someone in her Army community. She and her mother ultimately decided to evacuate to South Carolina post-storm.

Now back in Georgia, Morgan said she wouldn’t have made it without support from her Columbus-based AAF community.

“They were calling, they were texting, they were checking on us. They were telling us that they were praying for us.  They were asking us did we have any immediate need,” Morgan said.

She added AAF members had encouraged her to evacuate “since day one” because “they could tell that it was bad.” Morgan said she would’ve evacuated earlier had she known what the aftermath would be like.

Ahead of Milton, another AAF member encouraged her daughter to leave Tampa, Fla. She was glad when her daughter arrived in Columbus.

“She’s new to the Florida area. … So she initially wasn’t going to evacuate,” LaShon James said. “We did talk to her – myself, her father, her friends – and things like that, so she did decide to evacuate.”

James’ daughter was notified her Tampa home lost power in the storm. She will find out the true impact of Milton on her home when she returns Oct.11.

The AAF office is located at the Ranger Outreach Center at St. Luke’s off Second Avenue.
