PHENIX CITY, Ala. ( WRBL ) — The Phenix City Police Department says it will no longer respond to the scene of private property accidents in late October.

Starting Monday, Oct. 28, the department says officers will not work accidents on private property. Exceptions can be made in the case of injury, suspicion of driving under the influence or emergency circumstance, according to the Phenix City Police Department.

Individuals calling 911 to report a private property accident will be directed to visit the City of Phenix City website to file a report through the citizen self-reporting system.

According to police, the goal is for officers to be more readily available for emergencies and criminal activity by reducing the amount of non-criminal related calls they respond to.

Cool. More pow pow and less paperwork. This sounds better than when Stand Your Ground was passed. Property tax reduction due to decreased availability? Don’t count on it.
