Human remains including skull discovered in Chambers County, investigation underway

VALLEY, Ala. ( WRBL ) — An investigation is underway following the discovery of human remains in Chambers County on Wednesday, according to the Valley Police Department.

Police responded to the end of Mill Street near the former Riverdale Mill Complex after receiving report of possible human remains in a wooded area.

Responding officers found what “appeared to be human bones” including a skull, Valley police say. The area has been cordoned off.

The Department of Forensic Sciences along with a forensic anthropologist also responded to the scene due to the condition of the remains.

The sex of the individual is currently unknown, as well as the cause of death.

Recovery and processing are ongoing. Police say further information will be released later.
