UPDATE: Rosie was found outside a home in Hernando Thursday night. Her owners said she doesn’t appear to have any serious injuries but is being checked out by a veterinarian. Josh Tidwell said his dog was definitely happy to see her parents and thanked everyone who helped them reconnect with their missing dog through social media.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An Olive Branch couple is asking for help finding a dog that ran from a bad car accident Monday afternoon along I-55 between Southaven and Hernando.

Josh Tidwell doesn’t think their dog Rosie was not hurt in the crash under the 269 overpass but said she got spooked and jumped out of the vehicle.

Rosie was spotted by at least two people running southbound on the side of I-55.

“We’ve been down there searching with family, police, firemen, and the animal shelter. I’ve been down there earlier,” said Tidwell. “People are really hoofing it trying to find her.”

The dog’s picture has also been posted all over Facebook. The City of Hernando Animal Shelter said Rosie was last seen on the southbound off-ramp in Hernando and may be roaming in town.

Tidwell said they’ve owned the 6-year-old mix-breed rescue dog since she was a puppy. He said the dog is very friendly but may be traumatized and skittish after the wreck.

“Sometimes they have to trap them and catch them after something like this, but she is very sweet,” said Tidwell. “If you say the word treat or chicken, food, but she is the sweetest dog you will ever meet in your life.”

In August, an Aussiedoodle named Chase, who escaped from its owners during a bad car accident in North Memphis, was found safe three miles from the crash site.

Tidwell is hoping for the same outcome.

“I just want to know what happened to her. I just want to know she’s coming home,” said Tidwell.

The dog is wearing a silver choke collar and weighs about 25lbs. If you see Rosie or find her, call 901-491-1944 or 662-449-9503.
