MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A former Tipton County 911 official was fired and charged for reportedly stealing thousands of dollars through payroll, according to the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office.

Glenda Brown served as the Assistant Director of the Tipton County Emergency Communications District.

From October 21, 2022, through November 4, 2022, Brown received at least $6,150 in unauthorized payroll payments by adding unearned compensation to her timesheets, the state office said.

For example, in the week of November 4, 2022, Brown received 80 hours of salary and 40 hours of sick leave, totaling 120 hours, they said.

Brown was terminated on December 12, 2022, and had to pay $7,3381.19, which included the payroll payments and equipment she failed to return.

She was indicted on charges of theft of property over $2,500, destruction of and tampering with governmental records, and official misconduct.
