UPDATE: A teen was arrested and charged with kidnapping in this case.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say an abduction victim was rescued and the suspect captured after a chase and crash Friday evening.

It began just before 6, when officers spotted a vehicle they say had been used in an abduction — with the victim still inside.

They attempted a traffic stop near Mount Moriah and I-240, but the vehicle refused to stop, and officers began a pursuit.

That pursuit ended in a crash in the 3600 block of Sharpe Avenue. The suspect got out and fled, but police caught up and detained him.

The victim was treated by the Memphis Fire Department at the scene. Police are investigating.
