MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people have been detained after Memphis Police say they found suspects who were responsible for firing at an officer.

Officers responded to a prowler call at 5112 Park Ave at 2:48 p.m. on Saturday.

When they arrived, they spotted a dark-colored Nissan sedan that matched the description of a vehicle occupied by someone responsible for shooting at an officer.

The alleged shooting took place on Friday at 3:59 a.m. on Friday.

While on their way to a call for service, an officer observed a Nissan speed past them on Springdale Street and turn onto Matthews Avenue.

The officer stopped at the intersection in an attempt to determine the Nissan’s direction of travel. That’s when the passenger of the vehicle allegedly got out of the car and fired a shot at the officer.

The officer and squad car were not struck. The officer did not return fire.

Upon seeing the Nissan Saturday, officers attempted to stop it. The driver refused to stop and officers pursued the vehicle.

The suspects ran from the car on Fairmont Avenue.
