Woman assaults officer after James Lounge shooting: MPD

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is now in jail for assaulting an officer after a fatal shooting at a nightclub Wednesday on Summer Avenue, according to Memphis Police.

Raven Crawford, 32, is charged with assault on a first responder and disorderly conduct. She is being held in jail on a $7,500 bond.

MPD says they were on the scene of a shooting that left two people dead and another critically injured at James Lounge in the Highland Heights area.

A woman, later identified as Raven Crawford, refused to step out of the crime scene and began to push one of the police officers. When another officer stepped in to help, Crawford allegedly pushed that officer too.

The second officer then punched Crawford, who returned the hit, reports state. The officer says they hit Crawford again before backing off.

At that time, the first officer was able to arrest Crawford and take her into custody.

Raven Crawford’s next court date is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Police say they are still looking for those responsible for the shooting.
