MEMPHIS – It is hard to believe but the Tigers open the college football season in just 12 days or a week from this Saturday.

That means the finish line to fall camp… is almost here.

Not that there isn’t still a ton of work to be done before that August 31st season opener against North Alabama.

Work… and then some. To reach all the lofty goals expected of this Tiger team, Ryan Silverfield is asking for his team to remain focused and determined, and not just when they are on the football field.

“We talk to our guys all the time, we can only get so many hours with you in the building. What else are you doing? If you want to be average, fine. Just do what we do in the building, go home and we’ll be a six and six football club, and people will not be very happy,” Silverfield said. “So what are you doing? Coming up and meeting with some coaches extra? Are you watching film at night? I told them we can’t rest on our merits and we can’t go out there and say, well, we were good last year. Everybody’s back, so we’re just going to magically show up and think that we have the answers. Heck, no.”
