Woman allegedly tries to have stepdad killed; man shot multiple times

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was severely injured in a shooting at a Cordova home Thursday night, police say.

According to reports, officers responded to the shooting at a home in the 1100 block of Dove Hollow Circle around 7 p.m., where a man was found with numerous gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Regional One in critical condition.

Another man on the scene told police that he was at a soccer game when he received a notification from the camera at his home, showing his step-daughter, identified as Mya Emily Janzen, was attempting to enter his house.

He says he immediately drove home to confront her. A verbal argument began, which eventually led to him striking Janzen in the leg area.

Reports say she then called her boyfriend and stated that she had been assaulted. Janzen allegedly asked him to come over and kill her stepdad.

The man showed up at the house and a verbal argument involving both men quickly escalated, causing the man to pull out a gun.

The homeowner said he went inside to grab his gun “for personal safety.”

The altercation continued to escalate until Janzen’s boyfriend fired shots at her stepdad. He was grazed by one of the rounds.

Police say the homeowner then returned fire, hitting the man multiple times.

Two nearby cars were hit by crossfire during the shootout. One of the vehicles had a child inside at the time of the shooting.

Mya Janzen was charged with Criminal Responsibility for Facilitation of a Felony: First-Degree Murder. She will appear in court on Monday morning.

Her boyfriend has not yet been charged, but a charge of Attempted First-Degree Murder is expected, according to MPD.
