MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is held in jail on a $80,000 bond after police say she fired shots at the woman she got into a physical fight with last month in South Memphis.

Sherri Saine, 37, is charged with assault and aggravated assault.

On July 31, around 12:20 a.m., officers say they responded to a South Memphis home regarding a shooting. A victim stated that she was outside the house when a woman, later identified as Sherri Saine, arrived in a white four-door vehicle.

That is when Saine allegedly got out of the car and initiated a physical fight with the victim. The victim claims that they got into three separate fights within a short period of time.

According to reports, when the victim started walking to get in the car to leave, Saine got a handgun from her car and fired multiple gunshots at her.

The victim said she ran and took cover behind a parked car in the yard. At that time, the victim said she realized she was bleeding.

Memphis Fire Department made it to the scene and was able to treat the victim. MPD says the victim was not shot, but sustained injuries in her legs from glass fragments caused by the shattered windshield on the car that was hit by bullets.

On August 2, investigators say they interviewed the victim and she was able to positively identify Saine in a six-person photographic lineup as the person who shot at her.

Sherri Saine is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.
