MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man says he and his family were shot at while driving in Memphis over the weekend in what appears to have been a road rage incident.

The man told police he was at Ridgeway and State Route 385 East when a white Audi started to merge into his lane, almost crashing into his car.

The 19-year-old victim says he honked his horn at the driver. He says the driver then rolled their window down and shot at his car several times before driving away.

Those bullets narrowly missed his newborn baby and wife, but two bullets hit his car. he says his gas tank is now leaking because of the damage.

While this family is physically okay, others haven’t been so lucky.

Earlier this summer in June, four children and a man were hospitalized after they were all shot in what police called a “road rage incident.”

Court records say the father was trying to merge onto I-240 from Mount Moriah but couldn’t because a gray SUV refused to allow him.

Two people were charged in that case.

Memphis Police say so far this year there has been a nearly 11% decrease in the number of shootings on Memphis interstates, with 65 reported compared to 73 at this time last year.

If you find yourself dealing with another driver showing road rage, the department says “Stay calm, take a deep breath, do not antagonize the driver or respond with hand gestures. If you can, try to exit the interstate, get the car information, and report it to law enforcement.”

If you know anything about this recent reported shooting call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
