MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An Arkansas teenager is accused of shooting a man during an argument at a home in Jonesboro over the weekend.

Lawrence Jennings is charged with Battery First-Degree, Terroristic Act, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of Schedule VI with Purpose. The Jonesboro Police Department announced on Wednesday that Jennings will be tried as an adult for the crimes.

According to reports, the JPD responded to the shooting in the 3000 block of Fairview Drive. They say a man had been shot in front of the home and then ended up on Mary Jane Drive.

Police say the man showed up at the residence to “diffuse an ongoing dispute” that had been occurring. During that time, a verbal altercation began between Jennings and the man.

Jennings allegedly pulled out a gun during the argument, and the victim and a witness attempted to leave the area. Jennings began shooting at the victim’s car while they tried to drive away.

The victim was shot in the left shoulder blade, police say.

Two bullet holes were found in the trunk of the vehicle, the back window had been shot out, and two holes were found in the backseat headrest.

A warrant was issued for Lawrence Jennings.

Detectives found him at his home on West Forrest Street, hiding in the attic with a backpack containing marijuana that, according to police, appeared to be in packaging to sell.

He was taken into custody by the Jonesboro Police Department and is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Police have not released his age or mugshot.
