MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police have released surveillance video of the man they say is responsible for a deadly shooting at a Binghampton apartment complex early Thursday morning.

Officers say just before 2 a.m., they responded to the shooting at the Link Apartments in the 2000 block of Broad Avenue.

A male victim was found at the scene and taken to the Regional One Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have not released details about the shooting but said cameras at the apartment complex captured the suspect shortly before this incident took place.

People who live in the area were alarmed to see the crime scene during the early morning hours.

“I was walking the dog soon after, and I saw all of the police cars. My thought to myself was, well, we made it a year and a half,” said Rob Ruffin. “About 15 to 20 police cars and tape everywhere, and then, as I walked down there, I saw cars on the other side. I knew it was bad.”

Ruffin said he blames the community for the violence and crime in Memphis.

“Where is leadership? That’s my thought. Where is leadership in the church? In city hall? In the courthouse? And let’s not forget the most important one in all of this, the citizens,” Ruffin said. “We all need to get together and say what can we do to help this problem because it’s all our fault.”
