MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested after police say he was involved in a North Memphis shooting that left a woman critically injured back in May.

Javarious Douglas, 24, is charged with criminal attempt first-degree murder, two counts of reckless endangerment-dangerous weapon, and possessing a firearm/dangerous felony.

In another shooting case from March 2023, reports state that Douglas was indicted and charged with two counts of criminal attempt first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment-dangerous weapon, two counts of employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and vandalism $1000 or less. He was released from jail during that time on a $25,000 bond.

On May 30 at 9:20 p.m., officers say they responded to a shooting at Greenlaw Avenue and Waldran Boulevard where a woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The woman stated while she was walking her dog with her husband near the intersection of Faxon Avenue and Greenlaw Avenue, two groups of unknown suspects began shooting at one another.

When the woman and her husband tried to get home, two men started shooting at them, striking the woman in her butt.

She was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. Police say her husband was uninjured during the shooting.

According to ballistic evidence that was recovered on the scene it matched the ballistic evidence recovered from the Focuz Lounge shooting on August 4 that left four people shot earlier this month.

Officers say while they were on the scene they also saw a house on Greenlaw Avenue that had been shot multiple times by gunfire. During that time, three people were in the home but also uninjured.

At least 70 spent shell casings were located at the scene.

After further investigation, police say Javarious Douglas was developed as a suspect.

The female victim was able to positively identify Douglas in a six-person photo lineup as one of the men who shot at her.

Javarious Douglas is set to face a judge on Thursday morning.
