GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — A suspect in several auto break-ins from Germantown shopping centers crashed a vehicle on Poplar before being taken into custody Friday afternoon, Germantown Police said.

It began at 4 p.m. when officers received a call about auto burglaries at Saddle Creek Shopping Center. More calls about auto burglaries involving the same suspect then came in from Exeter Village, Germantown Collections and Whole Foods.

The suspect, who was in a dark-colored sedan, tried to get away from police by driving east on Poplar, but crashed. The suspect ran from the scene and was found hiding nearby.

The suspect was taken into custody and is being treated for an injury sustained in the crash, police said.

    Germantown Police are investigating.
