MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Jackson, Tennessee teen was charged with first-degree murder in connection to a shooting that left a man dead on Sunday.

Investigators identified the suspect as a 16-year-old boy, and a petition through Madison County Juvenile Court was issued to charge the teen with first-degree murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery.

On Tuesday, the teen was taken into custody at a home in the 100 block of Barham Street by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

The suspect will not be identified unless he is charged as an adult. He is currently being held at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center.

these extremely lenient sentences need to stop. we are tired of the government letting violent offenders off with a slap on the wrist. unless it's self-defense, and not self-defense while he's committing a crime, that boy deserves a life sentences no parole. every violent murder needs the same sentences. STOP letting these people back into society to hurt even more people.
