MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An inmate who escaped a correctional facility in Vaiden, Mississippi was captured by the Oxford Police Department on Wednesday, according to reports.

Ryan Burks, 39, of Ridgeland, Mississippi, was arrested for felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

On September 11, Oxford Police say they responded to Highway 6 East near the city limits to help find an inmate who ran away from the Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.

While officers were parked along Highway 6, they say they saw someone who matched the suspect’s vehicle. That is when a traffic stop was initiated.

At that time Burks was arrested and then later turned over to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department to face additional charges.
