MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who allegedly beat a woman and followed her to a police station was arrested and hit with more charges after officers say they recognized him from a shooting at a Hickory Hill gas station.

Rosharde Mathis, 18, is charged with criminal attempt first-degree murder, possession of a firearm/dangerous felony, two counts of vandalism $1000-$2500, and domestic assault-bodily harm.

Suspect dead after shootout with Memphis Police in Frayser; 2nd man arrested

On September 11, Memphis Police say they responded to a shooting call in the 3200 block of Ridgeway Road. The victim stated he was walking from the gas station when shots were fired at him from a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck.

After the victim realized he had been shot, he says he ran home and called police. He was then taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition.

During the shooting two vehicles were also damaged by gunfire.

Second person charged in nightclub shootout

MPD says the suspects were described as four men in all black clothing. One was armed with a black rifle and a second suspect was armed with a handgun, police say.

On Saturday, officers say they responded to a domestic call at the Ridgeway police station. A victim told the desk officer that Rosharde Mathis had pulled her into a closet and started kicking and strangling her.

The victim claimed she got free and drove to the police station to file a report. Mathis allegedly followed the woman to the police station.

Man critically injured in airport area shooting

When the additonal officers made it to the station, one of them immediately identified Mathis as the person on video responsible for the Hickory Hill shooting.

Later that day, the gas station shooting victim made it to the station and was able to positively identify Mathis in a photo lineup as the man responsible for firing shots at him, police say.

Rosharde Mathis is held in jail on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 30.
