TN parents accused of burning child repeatedly

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two parents in Crockett County, Tennessee were arrested and charged with child abuse Wednesday after authorities say they repeatedly burned their child with an object.

Amanda Young, 33, and Jeremy Young, 42, are both charged with aggravated child abuse and neglect, a felony. They will appear before a judge Thursday, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department said.

The injuries were verified during an investigation with the help of the Department of Children’s Services. The child may require medical attention to recover, authorities said.

Crockett County authorities called it “an emotional case” for their officers.

“If a parent or caregiver feels overwhelmed when caring for their children, there is no shame in asking for help,” the department said in a release.
