MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are looking for two people they say are linked to a stolen Corvette that hit and killed a construction worker during a police chase on Interstate 55 last week.
Justin Delgado, 36, of Lola, Texas, was working near the Memphis-Arkansas bridge the night of Sept. 18 when he was struck and killed by a Corvette, Arkansas State Police said. Another injured worker was taken to a Memphis hospital in critical condition.
West Memphis Police had tried to stop the vehicle, which then sped off toward Memphis, striking the workers during a high-speed chase, ASP said.
The Corvette was found by Memphis Police in the 200 block of West McKellar Avenue, fully engulfed in flames. The driver is still at large.
Tuesday, Memphis Police released photos of two suspects they say are connected to two car thefts that happened on Patton Street in South Memphis, just before the chase in Arkansas.
One of the stolen vehicles was a white 2010 Cadillac CTS; the other was a maroon 2020 Chevrolet Corvette.
Memphis Police say that Corvette was connected to the fatal hit-and-run near the I-55 bridge in Arkansas.
No arrests have been made but Memphis Police say this is an ongoing investigation.
