MEMPHIS, Tenn — A man whose stolen Corvette was connected to the fatal Interstate 55 hit-and-run last Wednesday says he’s hurt by the crime and so are other families.

Memphis Police are looking for the suspects who are linked to the crash that killed a construction worker and left another worker in critical condition last week during a police chase in Arkansas near the I-55 bridge to Memphis.

The victim says his home was burglarized. The two supects stole his white 2010 Cadillac and 2020 Chevy Corvette.

“The crime in Memphis is so bad and so horrible people can’t have anything nice anymore. Something needs to be done,” said the victim of the stolen cars, who did not want to be identified.

When West Memphis Police tried to stop the stolen Corvette, the driver went towards Memphis and hit three construction workers during a high-speed chase, and one person was left dead, state police said.

“Very tragic situation. I was sad that happened. That shouldn’t have happened,” said the victim.

The next crime happened in South Memphis on West McKellar Avenue, where MPD says they found the Corvette fully engulfed in flames less than three miles from where it was stolen.

“They hurt me and other families, and they need to be caught immediately,” said the victim.

In a statement a City of West Memphis spokesperson said,  “Our thoughts are with the families, coworkers, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking event.”

No arrests have been made but Memphis Police released photos of the suspects Tuesday.
