MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have released new surveillance video of a robbery and shooting at a storage facility in Northeast Memphis that happened on Monday morning.

According to police, five suspects held up a woman and her boyfriend at a storage business on Summer Avenue. The boyfriend was shot during the robbery.

He told police the robbers demanded his wallet before hitting him in the head and shooting him in the leg. The group then robbed his girlfriend.

Business owners in the area say they fear crime is moving in.

“We moved down here from White Station because crime was so bad down there,” said Susan Tanner, owner of Pink Ribbons.

In 2019, Tanner moved her business to Summer Avenue because she wanted to be somewhere safer.

Tanner says she noticed the yellow tape in the parking lot but because of the location of her business she didn’t think anything of it.

“I just thought it was construction tape. We see it all the time,” Tanner said. “It really bothers me that the crime could be moving down this way. There’s no fear of consequences and the judicial system is just going to have to step up and make them pay for their crimes.”

This is still an ongoing investigation.
