Scotty Pippen Jr. has clear path to earning roster spot with Grizzlies

With former NBA MVP Derrick Rose shockingly retired a week before training camp, there’s now a roster spot up for grabs.

A spot many feel should go to Scotty Pippen Jr.

” I’ve been talking with Zach a lot and Coach Taylor, and they’ve been pretty transparent me about, the steps going forward. There’s definitely a path for me to get that roster spot,” said Pippen.

” We’ll see where things shake out, in terms of who’s in what role as we kick the season off. But Scotty is someone who we have real confidence in playing a role,” said Memphis general manager Zach Kleiman.

Pippen Jr. saw action in 21 games last season with the Grizzlies and averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals and not only is he confident in his ability to contribute on this team, he has the entire Grizzlies locker room behind him too.

” Since he’s been here, he’s been one of my favorite players I’ve played with. His tenacity that he brings defensively, and ability to score and seeing the floor and pass and create,” said Grizzlies forward Jake LaRavia.

” I feel like previously in my last two years, I didn’t really feel like I was, you know, kind of a part of the team. I feel like this year I something to play for or something to be excited about. Whether it’s the roster spot or just playing for a team that believes in me and teammates, trust me regardless I’m just happy to be here,” said Pippen.
